A second study of disc jellyfish, and a perfect companion to Haeckel's most famous plate. Here a different cast of medusae floats across the sheet, their bells patterned in warm corals and cool blues, tentacles streaming behind them in graceful, calligraphic lines. Ernst Haeckel's gift was to make these soft, near-formless animals look architectural — every curve deliberate, every arrangement balanced.

The illustration is from Kunstformen der Natur (Art Forms in Nature), Haeckel's celebrated portfolio created at the turn of the twentieth century. As both a working marine biologist and a skilled lithographer, he captured the jellyfish with scientific accuracy while composing the page like a designer, which is exactly why his work bridged the gap between the laboratory and the world of Jugendstil ornament.

Hung beside the first Discomedusae plate, this print completes a stunning diptych; on its own it brings the same calming, otherworldly movement to a room. It suits bedrooms, bathrooms and serene living spaces, and its mix of warm and cool tones lets it work against many wall colours. For collectors of Haeckel's marine series, it is a must-have second piece.

Printed on museum-quality matte paper with archival inks and a refined, glare-free finish, in 30×40, 50×70 and 70×100 cm, with or without a frame. Elegant vintage jellyfish art, ready to pair.
